Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 were hoping for a better gaming experience on the new PlayStation 5 Pro. However, they just got some disappointing news. CD Projekt Red, the game’s developer, confirmed they won’t be releasing a patch for the PS5 Pro. They shared this news on X (formerly Twitter), stating, We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch.
So, what does this mean for PS5 Pro players?
Even though the PS5 Pro has better hardware and improved ray-tracing, Cyberpunk 2077 won't take advantage of these upgrades. Players on the PS5 Pro will have the same version as those on the regular PS5.
This is especially important since Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough launch back in 2020. The game faced many performance issues on older consoles. While it has made big improvements since then, including the well-received Phantom Liberty expansion, no major updates are coming.
Why no patch, you ask?
CD Projekt Red has moved on to focus on new projects. They’re working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, called Project Orion, and a new game in The Witcher series. This shift means they likely don’t have the time or resources to make updates for older games.
What does this mean for Cyberpunk 2077?
Some fans are upset, but others see why the studio is putting their energy into new titles. Meanwhile, other games like Demon's Souls and Silent Hill 2 are getting PS5 Pro enhancements, which makes Cyberpunk 2077's lack of update stand out even more.
For now, PS5 Pro owners can still play Cyberpunk 2077. But they won’t get the extra visual or performance boosts that the console could have offered.
